A while ago, I believe, I mentioned here that I wrote apart from one printed book three other ebooks.
Since they do not sell AT ALL (unfortunately), I decided to put links to the files on my website, so they can be downloaded for free (I would appreciate, though, if maybe 1 or copies were bought ...):

puter
Well, everybody nowadays seems to be in an unbelievable hurry.
Likewise everybody seems to be obsessed with millions of "time saving" little tricks. Or is it fashion???
Today I came across this expression in a post on a mailing list:
"The puter I'm trying to run it on is ..."
Maybe someone can enlighten me.
What exactly is "gained" by omitting the three characters "com".
It takes maybe 1.4 seconds to type them. If you "save" 1.4 seconds, what are you using them for later???
Or is there somewhere some other hidden "added meaning"???
I guess, this is just one of the million things I will never understand.
After all, I am about 300 years behind my time ...

Instractions
The other day I receive a translation job, which came with very specific "instractions" from the client.
They were very concerned about "Be sure to perform spelling error check on MS Word."
"Mistranslation, untranslated texts, misspelling are not allowed for this project. Be sure to check all of them before you deliver the file."
Let's have a little look at those "instractions", and 1-2 samples from the source text, that needed to be translated "word-for-word".
"These texts was written so that they will be translated in many languages and used in different countries."
"Do not allow liquids, combustible materials, metallic objects, or any other foreign matters to enter the device."
"The accidents may damage your camera or other equipment."
Be my guest to form your own opinion of this source material.
As "instracted" I tried to render them as closely as possible to the original - which did result, naturally, in an unacceptable (to my taste) mumble jumble.
Only for some passages that were simply too far out of this world, I took the liberty of bringing them in the translation at least back into the upper atmosphere.
The readers will surely have their fun - and most likely make fun of the maker that provides this kind of nonsense.

変換ミスやミスタイプ（英語ではよく "typo" = typographic error とよばれる）は日頃誰にでも、どこでも起き得るものだ。

「商業ベース」・・・ 日本の鍼灸技術
ここ既に何度か代田先生の本の翻訳の話をしたと思う。
中国語の海賊版以外に「真面な」訳本が私は知っている限り存在しない。
しかし、海外の人、取り分け幾分「日本の鍼灸」（この定義も概念も非常に曖昧だが・・・）を少々勉強している人々はほぼ確実いつか「代田文誌」と言う名前を遭遇するに違いない。
何年昔私の治療院を見学してきたアメリカ人（看護師でアメリカで鍼灸を営んでいる）から直接「お願い」がよせられて来た：「仕事の翻訳の合間に代田文誌の本を英訳して下さい！是非読んでみたいからです。」
馬鹿な私は走り回って、「関係者」（古代田文彦先生の奥さんを含む＝著作権を持っている）ほぼ全員に何度も翻訳する許可を頂けないかとお願いした。
間違いなく多数の敵を作ってしまった！
先日一度出版社から一端「許可を与えます」との連絡があった。しかし、条件として商業ベースで作業を行い、事前契約を結ぶ事。
その「商業ベースの契約」は事前金（２０万円）を頂く、完成してから８％の印税を頂く。ただし、印税の支払いは年に一度（６月）。そして、作業終了までの期間は２年だと決めている契約書にサインする事。
しかし・・・
その「条件」は 私にとって非現実的です。
例えば：
翻訳に専念（full time!) しても、その分量を仕上げるのは４-５か月がかかり ます。校正作業は全部その時間内に収まらないかもしれない。
前金２０万円*を頂けば＝月収＝４-５万円になる。その後「印税」（これもお小遣い程度と予想します）は翌年あたりに頂く（かもしれない！）。
（この分量と内容の仕事の通常のレートの１５％程度；
印税が翻訳の仕事に相応しい程頂くため恐らく１万-１．５万冊を売らなければ ならない。まず見込めない事でしょう）
私はどのように生活すればよいのでしょうか。
Full time にしなければ：生活が出来るように通常レートの仕事を優先的を**受けざるを得ない**。
翻訳は既に３０年をやっているので、こちらの「商業ベース」の仕事を優先的進める/進まざるを得ないと、
本の納期守れない事態がほぼ確実に発生する。納期まで間に合わないと「契約違反」が発生します。
本の翻訳は volunteer （私は言い出した）として出来るでしょうが、
「商売=商業」として（金銭的）意味全くない。通常の業務を妨害（納気問題）することでさえ恐れなければならない。
「商業ベース」の意味がよくわからない。
お蔭さまで代田先生の情報/教え/技術などは永遠に門外不出になってしまう。
私の感覚では「日本の鍼灸」大いなる損失する。
ま、私の「感覚」はもともといかれていると年中に言われる。
「日本の事何一つ分かっていないね」など・・・
商業ベースを諦めて、暫く暇の時個人的で忽忽と作業＝個人的の趣味として挑戦してみる。翻訳の許可がなくても、個人的に翻訳することは「禁じる」事は出来ないでしょう。いつか出来上がったら、個人的人に差し上げる事も禁じられないだろう・・・・・

Gramping apparently refers to "camping with the grandparents".
Problem is the next line.
That particular location/event is "exclusively" for indulging in / being able to afford (lots of) luxury.
Or in other words: commoners = ordinary people are NOT welcome.
* maybe everybody with an annual income below 150,000 USD will be shot on the spot???
I do not like those snobs (who are, incidentally, disrupting/destroying the local society).
I very much prefer talking to the old fishermen (Hayama used to be a completly unknown fishing village).

WHO fraud!!!
Over ten years ago I ordered a book published by the WHO, providing some conclusions related to the FAILED project "HFA2000" = "Health for All by the Year 2000".
The conclusion was / is, that modern western medicine simply CANNOT provide even halfway "sufficient" medical services for ALL of mankind.
For that the help of traditional medicine is required:
"Traditional Medicine and Health Care Coverage. a Reader for Health Administrators and Practitioners"; Bannerman Iarc,R. H. Bannerman
At the time I ordered the book, it was "out of print" and I thus ordered it as "print on demand"
AND paid upfront for it. (I cannot find the receipt right now, but I know I have it somewhere)
Since then I not onl DID NOT receive the book, which seems to be available as printed book again, but I never even got an update about the printing status.
Not considering the other activities of the WHO ... as long as the WHO as an organization engages in TRADE with merchandise / services (books, publications)

The WHO provides products/services in exchange for the money paid by the customer.
I DID pay my money.
WHO never sent me the paid product or informed me of any changes in order status.
THAT ... is called FRAUD in ANY business ALL OVER the world.
Trying to "reach" the WHO seems impossible.
I tried to contact serveral offices, sent mails to several different addresses, tried to sent fax messages to number shown on the website ...
NOBODY, EVER even tried to answer.
Replies to mails are automated messages made by robots.
Fax machines NEVER respond.
Another characteristic of a scam organization.
You have all those fancy web sites, phone numbers etc., but they apparently are just a deceptive scheme.
I called the WHO Japan - a completely unrelated, independent organization.
They told me, that even they have no means of "getting in contact" with the WHO except for some occasional email.
The "WHO people" apparently talk ONLY to high government officials or people offereing billion dollar donations.
Please feel free to "spread the word" about the WHO.
